The Ignatian Family Teach-In

November 7-9, 2016

Each year, a delegation from Gonzaga participates in a Teach-In on issues of justice sponsored by the Ignatian Solidarity Network.   This year, we will join an anticipated 1,000+ high school and college students for the Teach-In, being held in Arlington, Virginia.  The theme of this year's event is Imagination Reform: Moving Beyond the Margins. It will continue in the tradition of convening the Ignatian family to honor the life of the Salvadoran Martyrs and respond to the justice issues of our day. Throughout the weekend, there will be various talks, break-out sessions, and a Mass on Sunday.

Apopka Spring Break Service Immersion

The annual consciousness raising Apopka immersion occurs over Spring Break. This unique trip will provide an opportunity for eight to 10 members of Gonzaga’s junior class to experience firsthand the present immigration dilemma facing our country by living and working with immigrant agricultural workers in Apopka, FL. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur (the religious community of Sr. Seton Cunneen, the former and beloved Director of Christian Service at Gonzaga) have ministered in the Diocese of Orlando for over thirty years. They will organize the program as well as the living and working arrangements for us in Apopka.
