A Journey of Brotherhood

Dear Gonzaga Community,

When Pope Francis appeared on the balcony of St. Peter’s immediately after his election he said, “And now let us begin this journey… a journey of brotherhood in love… Let us pray for the whole world that there might be a great sense of brotherhood.”  Pope Francis used these words because there is no stronger sign of the establishment of God’s kingdom on earth than that of people living as brothers and sisters.  Brotherhood is a real manifestation of the Kingdom of God proclaimed by Christ in the Gospels.

How wonderful then that you will not find a school with a stronger sense of brotherhood than Gonzaga.  Ask a Gonzaga man what he loves about Eye Street, and “brotherhood” will be at the top of his list.  Ask an alum who his closest friends are, and the list will almost certainly still include his Gonzaga brothers many years after his graduation.  Attend the funeral of a Gonzaga alum, and you will find his fellow Eagles in the congregation.  Gonzaga is for its sons a journey of brotherhood that lasts a lifetime.

The theme for this year’s Annual Fund appeal is A Journey of Brotherhood, a journey that finds its origin in God’s own love.  It is one of Gonzaga’s greatest gifts for which we can all be grateful - students, alumni, and parents alike.

In gratitude for this beautiful gift, I ask that you please consider supporting our Annual Fund.  Your generous response, as outlined in the enclosed brochure, will support the scholarships, staff, and programming necessary for sustaining this great educational journey.  Your gift helps make brotherhood on Eye Street possible for boys who would not otherwise be able to afford Gonzaga.  Your support makes all the difference.

As we celebrate the Journey of Brotherhood sounique to Eye Street, I hope that you will find in your Gonzaga experiences, friends, and memories a reason to give thanks.  Thank you for all that you do to make our community a tangible manifestation of God’s kingdom.

                                                        Sincerely,
