How to Apply  

 

The procedure for application varies slightly depending on what school you are currently attending. Select a category below for the school which you are currently attending:

MD or DC Catholic grade school (Archdiocese of Washington)

1) Create an admissions account with Gonzaga by clicking here.  Fill out a Gonzaga application - either the school's paper application or an online application via your admissions account.  If you fill out a paper application, complete and return it to the Office of Admissions on or before December 11.  A $35.00 check or money order should be included with your application and personal essay.  If you choose the online application, first complete and submit the application.  Then, deliver the $35.00 check or money order and the personal essay to the Office of Admissions on or before December 11.  Once those are received at Gonzaga, your online application will be activated.  The application should be completed by the student and not by a parent.

2) List Gonzaga as one of your choices on the Archdiocesan application card.

Your grade school will send us :

 a) Teacher Recommendations

 b) Your High School Placement Test

 c) Your 7th and 8th grade grades

*do not use the teacher recommendation form that is in the admissions packet.

VA Catholic grade school

1) Create an admissions account with Gonzaga by clicking here.   Fill out a Gonzaga application - either the school's paper application or an online application via your admissions account.  If you fill out a paper application, complete and return it to the Office of Admissions on or before December 11.  A $35.00 check or money order should be included with your application and personal essay.  If you choose the online application, first complete and submit the application.  Then, deliver the $35.00 check or money order and the personal essay to the Office of Admissions on or before December 11.  Once those are received at Gonzaga, your online application will be activated.  The application should be completed by the student and not by a parent.

2) In the Gonzaga application packet there is a request form for academic records or you can click here to download this form. Your parent or guardian should sign the form and send it to your grade school. If you applied online and do not have the request form, your parent or guardian should call your school office to make a request for your seventh and eighth grade report cards, any standardized test results, attendance records, disciplinary actions, and if applicable, copies or personal evaluations or psychological reports. These should be sent directly to Gonzaga from your current school.

3) Choose two teachers (English, science, math, or history) from your school to fill out the recommendation forms found in the Gonzaga admissions packet (if you applied online, click here to download Gonzaga's teacher recommendation form; NOTE: the form is two pages).  The teachers should mail the recommendation directly to Gonzaga. 

4) Gonzaga requires the High School Placement Test, which will be given at your school.  In selecting the schools you wish to receive your test results, make sure that you list your VA school choices before Gonzaga on the registration form.

Non-Catholic grade school

1) Create an admissions account with Gonzaga by clicking here.   Fill out a Gonzaga application - either the school's paper application or an online application via your admissions account.   If you fill out a paper application, complete and return it to the Office of Admissions on or before December 11.  A $35.00 check or money order should be included with your application and personal essay.  If you choose the online application, first complete and submit the application.  Then, deliver the $35.00 check or money order and the personal essay to the Office of Admissions on or before December 11.  Once those are received at Gonzaga, your online application will be activated.  The application should be completed by the student and not by a parent.

These should be sent directly to Gonzaga from your current school.

3) Choose two teachers (English, science, math, or history) from your school to fill out the recommendation forms found in the Gonzaga admission's packet (if you applied online, click here to download Gonzaga's teacher recommendation form; NOTE: the form is two pages).  The teachers should mail the recommendation directly to Gonzaga.

 4) You will need to take the High School Placement Test.  The test is given at a variety of sites in the Metro area in December and January.  Please log on to www.CatholicSchoolsWork.org then click on "High Schools" for information on the HSPT.  The test will be administrered the first two Saturdays in December and can be taken on either weekend. A make-up test is usually scheduled in early January.

High School Transfer Students  

1) Gonzaga does not accept mid-year transfers. Gonzaga also does not accept transfers into Senior year unless you are applying from a fellow Jesuit high school from out of the area.

2) Create an admissions account with Gonzaga by clicking here.   Fill out a Gonzaga application - either the school's paper application or an online application via your admissions account.   For an application packet, call the office at 202-336-7101.  If you fill out a paper application, complete and return it to the Office of Admissions.  A $35.00 check or money order should be included with your application and personal essay.  If you choose the online application, first complete and submit the application.  Then, mail/deliver the $35.00 check or money order and the personal essay to the Office of Admissions.  Once those are received at Gonzaga, your online application will be activated.  The application should be completed by the student and not by a parent.  There is no application deadline per se for transfer students.  However, applications received before the Christmas break will receive first consideration for any possible openings.

Your parent or guardian should sign the form and send it to your son's current school.  We will need the previous year's final grades as well as the current year's most recent grades.  Additionally, please request your school office to send: any standardized test results, attendance records, disciplinary actions, and if applicable, copies or personal evaluations or psychological reports. These should be sent directly to Gonzaga from your current school.
