Mission

The mission of the Gonzaga Library is to teach students 21st century research skills and information gathering techniques that are vital in today's world. Students acquire these skills through library instruction and hands-on use of library materials and resources. The librarians work closely with faculty from all disciplines to ensure that library research is integrated into the curriculum. In addition, the librarians encourage students to develop a love of reading and lifelong learning.

Collection

Our collection consists of more than 20,000 circulating books, ebooks, and reference volumes. Numerous periodicals, magazines, and newspapers are available in print and online formats. An extensive DVD collection supports the curricular and recreational interests of our students and faculty. Online databases, with both school and home access through Canvas, are a vital part of our collection and cover the entire scope of the curriculum.

Getting Help

Need help finding resources or researching a topic? Looking for a good book to read? Making sure our students and faculty know how to successfully navigate all the library resources while feeling comfortable and confident that they are finding exactly what they need is one of the librarians’ most important jobs. Do not hesitate to ask a librarian for help. If you aren’t able to do so in person, just send us an email.

“More Than Just Books”

The library is an integral part of Gonzaga. The librarians strive to model the Jesuit ideal of “Cura Personalis” or care for the entire person. To this end, the library is a welcoming place for students and faculty where you will find students collaborating on projects, engaging in quiet reading, working on computers, taking library classes, or just relaxing with friends. There are board games and chess sets always ready for players, while the annual Ping-Pong and mini-golf tournaments have students and faculty vying for bragging rights. The library also hosts an annual Poetry Slam and Speaker Series which often feature Gonzaga alumni. If a student needs a little outdoor exercise, footballs, Frisbees, soccer and rugby balls can be borrowed. If a student forgets that it is a formal dress day, jackets, shirts, dress pants and ties are also available for rent. Whatever you need, the Gonzaga Library has got you covered!
