Head Coach

Mr. Ariel Laguilles '96

With over 25 years of playing experience, 12 years of coaching experience, and having played under the legendary Fr. Ray Lelii, SJ, Coach Laguilles looks to continue the traditionally dominant tennis progam at Gonzaga College High School.  Laguilles was head coach of the JV tennis team from 2004-2006.  After the retirement of Billy Barnes, Laguilles became head coach of the Varsity team in 2007.  Under Laguilles, the Varisty team finished 2nd in the WCAC in 2007, 2009, 2015 and 1st in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.  In 2013, the varisty team swept the WCAC tournament, winning all 6 singles and all 3 doubles flights to earn a total of 54 of 54 possible points.  In 2014, the team won its 5th consecutive championship with 49 pts, winning 5 out of 6 singles flights, and sweeping all 3 doubles flights. 

In 2008, Laguilles was named the All-Met Tennis Coach of the Year by the Washington Post. 

Aside from coaching tennis, Laguilles teaches Spanish and currently serves as Chair of the Modern Language and Classics Department at Gonzaga.  He is also an assistant coach for the Cross Country team.
